Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Sarajevo Canton and DVV International Signed the Agreement on Cooperation in Adult Education

Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, mr. Anis Krivić, and the director of the DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina, Emir Avdagić, PhD, signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of adult education in 2020 today, 5^th of June.

The Agreement foresees the continuation of beforehand started activities on developing the information system for controlling and monitoring adult education – ISKOOM, building management capacities of the accredited adult education providers in Sarajevo Canton, establishing a network of relevant actors in the field of adult education on the cantonal level, as well as strengthening capacities of the ministry’s employees concerning managing the adult education system.

„In improving adult education, it is highly important to apply a comprehensive, systematic approach. It includes active participation and intense cooperation of all competent institutions, appropriate and quality operations of adult education providers as key holders of the system, and, what is particularly important, a mechanism for controlling and monitoring to prevent malversations. That is, precisely, what we are going to focus on, this and in the following years, within our joint activities with the ministry of education in Sarajevo Canton. “ said the director of DVV International – Country Office Bosnia and Herzegovina, Emir Avdagić, PhD.

Besides the future cooperation, participants of the today held meeting also discussed the following topics: implementation of legislation in adult education, the need for strategic planning and adoption of a developmental strategy for adult education, and current challenges the ministry, adult education providers, and beneficiaries are facing in practice due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The cooperation is part of the DVV International’s strategy. It is following the objective „Support to the development of adult education in East and Southeast Europe and the Caucasus“ of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
