On Wednesday, 25th of January, director of DVV International - Country Office B&H held a meeting with representatives of Department of Education and Pedagogical Institution of Government of Brčko District with the aim of getting to know the new management of the Department and defining further steps in the proces of adoption of the Law on Adult Education and in strengthening the system of adult education in Brčko District.
Hosts of the meeting were Mr. Senad Osmanović, manager of Department for Education in the Government of Brčko District and Mr. Sead Pašić, professional adviser for secondary education and adult education in Pedagogical Institution of the Government of Brčko District.
Besides director of DVV International - Country Office B&H, Emir Avdagić, PhD, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Mr. Mensur Sinanović, and the Minister of Education, Youth, Science, Culture and Sport of Bosnia-Podrinje Canton Goražde, Mr. Damir Žuga have also attended the meeting.
It is concluded that the regulation of this field in Brčko District is one of the priorities in the next period so the field of adult education could become equal part of the unified system of education. That would be a significant contribution to the availability of education for all age groups of population, decrease unemployment rate, and raising awareness about the importance of education in the context of lifelong learning. The adoption of the Law on Adult Education in Brčko District is an important step in an effort of improving B&H society to be recognized and competitive knowledge society. Knowledge society must be the aim of B&H, and adult education is a road to its realization.
